This company recently acquired a state of the art domestic mill in Los Angeles. The mill produces synthetic activewear for well known/respected conpanies like Nike/Reebok/Lulu Lemon/ Alo Yoga and many more.
We are searching for a Fabric Manager who understands Synthetic , activewear fabrics.
SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for driving newness and innovation by working with Design and Production for the sourcing and development of fabrics that are aesthetically and cost appropriate for the category.
Responsibilities:
Lead the Fabric R&D process to translate into clear, executable direction for vendors and mills.
Work cross-functionally with the Design, Production and Merchandising teams in meeting aesthetics, timing, costing and testing parameters related to fabrics.
Attend fabric shows and/or shop competitive/aspirational brands as appropriate to gain perspective on new innovation and trend as it applies to the brand
Work with mills and overseas vendors on seasonal fabric development
Work with VP of Synthetic Fabrics on troubleshooting of fabric related issues.
Meet withVP of Synthetic Fabrics on a weekly basis to review fabric submits and development issues.
Create material records in PLM and upload necessary documentation (FDS, testing, scope certificates, etc)
Facilitate testing of all fabrics prior to bulk orders. Review test failures with QA as needed.
Build/maintain archive of fabrics that have been approved and used in previous seasons
Manage receipt of new fabrics present to Design and file accordingly.
Maintain the fabric library- ensure all fabrics are brand and price appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in textile engineering or comparable degree/ education
6+ years' experience working in Synthetic Fabric development, textiles or related field
Keen eye for fabric trends and a passion for fabric technology
Technical knowledge of yarns, fabrics, dyeing, printing, and finishing processes as it relates to synthetic fabrics
Proficient in PLM, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and Google apps (google sheets, google slides, etc) preferred
Prior managerial experience preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
