We are currently seeking a manufacturing engineer ideally from the auto-motive space, but open to a variety of experience.

What to Expect:

In addition to developing manufacturing process and assembly strategies, Manufacturing Engineers work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will work closely with Design Engineering, Product Integration, Factory Design, Quality and Production to take vehicle design changes and new vehicle designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.

Responsibilities:
• Interface with cross-functional teams (design engineering, GA process ME, operations, quality engineering, and supply chain) to review the manufacturing feasibility of product designs in General Assembly to deliver on best-in-class cost, function, and quality metrics.
• Provide detailed equipment recommendation for part or all line conveyances, on ground/overhead structures, product transfers, and overall flow for subassembly and/or main assembly lines that is the best for cost, maintenance, product assembly, design for manufacturing (DFM), and overall total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Develop process documentation and project planning documents like Request for Quotes (RFQs), project timeline charts, assembly sequence flows, PFMEAs, Quality Control Plans, technical standards, and CAPEX/OPEX analyses.
• Support the development and introduction of processes and equipment associated with early prototype builds and highlight key process and equipment improvement opportunities for the final production lines.
• Work closely with partner vendors to develop world-class production lines with unprecedented simplicity, density, speed, and automation.
• Work closely with the factory design, facilities, and EHS teams to ensure production line layouts and equipment are optimized for the most efficient factory design.
• Support the design, installation, commissioning, and ramp of high-volume production lines, ensuring close collaboration with partner vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver the line in the shortest possible time and lowest possible cost.
• Initiate and drive strategies to rapidly ramp the quality and rate of newly launched production lines to full capacity with a focus on maintaining the highest of safety standards throughout the ramp duration.
• Build on the success of existing line layouts, processes, and tooling to further improve material flow, waste reduction, safety, and ergonomics by utilizing lean manufacturing best practices and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Provide leadership to cross-functional teams on manufacturing engineering topics and strive to improve the overall efficiency of the manufacturing engineering team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:
• B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering; or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
• 5+ years of related experience developing and launching complex assembly processes and equipment.
• A 'can-do' attitude with open mindedness and a strong desire to think 'outside the box'.
• The ability in taking initiative, managing competing demands, collaborating closely with others, and remaining positive in high-pressure environments.
• A demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and make data-based decisions, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their successful and timely delivery.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments, coping with rapidly changing inputs, constraints, and priorities.
• Strong familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and 8D.
• Hands-on experience with EMS, AGVs, Rollerbed, Shuttle System, Slat, and any other systems with the ability to provide needed design direction.
• Good understanding of BOMs, OEE, manufacturability, DFM, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies.
• Experience with AUTOCAD, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, and other similar software/tools.
