Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Software Engineer to serve as an Embedded Software Engineer with experience in controls design and digital signal processing to support the hardware, firmware, and software development of electro-optical systems at the Starfire Optical Range, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.
This position supports the R&D mission of the Air Force Research Laboratory Optics Division in their advancement of Space Domain Awareness capabilities. The site houses telescope research facilities ranging in size from 0.5m up to 3.5m with advanced optical systems. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the development, optimization, and maintenance of embedded electro-mechanical pointing and tracking control systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support firmware and software research development projects.
Work in a team environment to develop specifications of firmware and software architectures.
Research required algorithms and implementation approach.
Design and validate implementation of all firmware components.
Integrate and synthesize firmware for the target platform.
Develop and maintain software code. Integrate software into a fully functional software system.
Troubleshoot basic firmware and software issues.
Assist with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure embedded system requirements are met.
To meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite at Kirtland AFB, NM.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
1+ years of experience working with FPGA embedded systems.
1+ years of experience programming in C, C++, or C#.
Experience with developing code for System-on-a-Chip (SOC).
Experience with FPGA processor or memory interconnects.
Experience in embedded software development.
Hardware integration and software Integration experience.
Experience in performance analysis using tools such as MATLAB or Mathematica.
Experience using programming languages (VHDL, C++,Java, MATLAB).
Experience using communication interfaces including DDR, QSPI, UART, RS-422, RS-485, and Ethernet.
Experience developing code for sensor acquisition and sensor processing.
Experience developing code for serve control applications.
Experience with mixed signal oscilloscopes and function generators.
Experience with telescopes and electro-optical systems (EO systems, electro optics).
Experience in OS driver development.
Active U.S Top Secret clearance.
