NFPA is looking to add a Vice President of Information Technology to the team! The Vice President of IT will bridge the gap between business strategy and IT operations, ensuring that technology initiatives drive business growth and efficiency. This role is also responsible for leading and managing the IT department with a specific focus on application development, security and compliance, infrastructure, and data management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technology strategy, systems integration, and enterprise architecture to ensure the effective and secure operation of IT systems. This role is pivotal in aligning technology initiatives with business goals while ensuring operational excellence and security compliance.
General Responsibilities
Collaborate with business leaders to identify technology needs and align IT initiatives with strategic business goals.
Oversee IT operations and projects, ensuring they meet business requirements in terms of cost, timelines, and performance.
Lead cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration between IT and other departments.
Ensure compliance with security standards and industry regulations.
Develop and manage IT budgets and optimize resource allocation for maximum efficiency and impact.
The Vice President of IT will provide oversight and key responsibilities to the following teams:
Application Development
Oversee the application development team whose focus is the design, development, and implementation of software applications that meet business needs.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define application requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
Implement best practices for software development, including agile methodologies, code review processes, and DevOps strategies.
Evaluate and select technology platforms and tools for application development.
Infrastructure and IT Security
Oversee the development and enforcement IT security policies and procedures to protect company data and assets.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and other relevant regulations.
Direct the infrastructure team to proactively manage risk through regular risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and penetration testing to identify potential threats.
Oversee disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives.
Oversee the IT help desk supporting all employees with hardware and software needs.
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage systems, and cloud environments.
Project Management Office
Ensure alignment of all projects with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
Oversee the development of project performance dashboards and reporting mechanisms to provide transparency and insights to senior leadership.
Oversee the project prioritization process, ensuring optimal allocation of resources across projects.
Data Management
Oversee data governance initiatives to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
Ensure proper data integration and flow between various systems to support business analytics and decision-making.
Implement data management solutions such as data warehouses, and business intelligence platforms.
Collaborate with business units to develop data strategies and support reporting and analytics needs.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
10+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, with significant experience in application development, security, infrastructure, and data management.
Proven experience managing complex IT projects from conception to completion.
Strong understanding of modern application development practices (e.g., microservices, cloud-native architecture, APIs).
In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, network security, and compliance regulations.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments.
Expertise in data governance, data architecture, and analytics platforms.
Strong leadership and team management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
