Adjunct RN (OBGYN or Med-Surg) Clinical/Fundamentals/Lab Instructor Part-time 2 to 3 days 18 to 24 hours in January 2025 Part time

The Nursing Instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of program instruction and related activities. The Nursing Instructor reports directly to the Dean of Nursing.

Faculty must meet Nevada Board of Nursing requirements

All faculty must follow policies and procedures out lined in the Nursing Faculty Handbook and the College Catalog

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Consistently and correctly, integrate Watson’s Theory of Caring and QSEN Competencies into theoretical and clinical teaching components.

  • Apply knowledge derived from nursing science, natural/social science, humanities, liberal arts, and other disciplines when preparing and presenting theoretical content.

  • Maintain knowledge and expertise in the subject area to be taught by searching the literature and seeking available resources pertaining to the content area.

  • Demonstrate clinical skills and techniques in the clinical laboratory according to current best practices.

  • Hold students accountable for acquired competency in their performance and assists students in remediation activities to acquire and maintain competence.

  • Motivate students through instructional and advising activities toward high levels of contribution to the discipline.

  • Conduct conferences with students concerning academic and clinical competence and progress.

  • Propose course and syllabi revisions according to the MFSON curriculum design protocol and via submission for review and approval.

  • Identify textbooks and course resources to meet course objectives.

  • Facilitate learning experiences to optimize student achievement of course objectives.

  • Perform student theoretical and/or clinical performance grading.

  • Maintain accurate evaluation records for each course.

  • Schedule and hold office hours on a regular basis as required in the College Faculty Handbook.

  • Utilize principles of communication and group process when interacting with students, peers, and groups.

  • Orient students to the clinical agency and interpret learning objectives for clinical agency personnel.

  • Coordinate student learning activities within the agency.

  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the clinical facilities to provide quality student learning experiences.

  • Conduct and document clinical agency representative meetings on at least an annual basis.

  • Contribute to department and college activities to ensure achievement of the College mission and department goals.

  • Attend College faculty convocations and assemblies on a regular basis.

  • Actively participate in department and College committees and meetings.

  • Participate in the program development, including development, implementation, and evaluation of the department’s policies and curriculum.

  • Prepare formal and informal reports, as requested, for Systematic Program Evaluation based on institutional, regulatory, and accreditation standards.

  • Professionally represent MFSON and NCI to outside agencies, health care facilities, and the community. Serve as a professional advocate through representation in professional groups and organizations.

  • Pursue academic and professional continuing educational experiences.

  • Participate in peer review.

  • Adhere to all college policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


  • Current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Nevada

  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing from an accredited school OR Bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing and a master’s or doctoral degree in a field related to nursing.

  • Three years of experience as a registered nurse.
