SA-TECH supports the U.S. Army Sustainment Command's Enhance Army Global Logistics Enterprise Logistics Support Services at Schofield Barracks and Pohakuloa Training Area, HI. We provide maintenance services in the form of above-brigade-level, field, sustainment, and limited depot-level maintenance support as well as transportation counseling services and handling passenger, equipment, and cargo movements for Army Field Support Battalion Hawaii's (AFSBn-HAW) assigned tactical units and government affiliated civilian agencies.
At Schofield Barracks, HI, SA-TECH is seeking to hire a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for the Modernization Displacement Repair Site (MDRS) to perform a full range of field and sustainment-level automotive and mechanical repair tasks on Army tactical wheeled vehicles and support equipment, including bulldozers, scrapers, excavators, forklifts, tractors, FMTVs, HMMWVs, PLSs, generators, and other heavy equipment.
Primary duties include (but are not limited to):
Conduct repairs in compliance with technical manuals, Safety of Use Messages (SOUM), Modification Work Orders (MWO), and local directives within prescribed timeframes outlined in the Maintenance Allocation Charts (MAC).
Perform the removal, installation, modification, cleaning, adjustment, and repair of major automotive assemblies as authorized under Army Regulation 750-1 standards for general support and limited depot-level maintenance.
Troubleshoot and analyze malfunctions in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems across tactical and commercial heavy equipment.
Execute repair actions in compliance with technical manuals and conduct causative research to identify corrective measures.
Document findings, maintenance activities, and corrective actions using DA Form 2404 in accordance with Army Regulation 750-8 (TAMMS).
Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hand tools and specialized equipment, examine parts for wear using micrometers and gauges, replace defective engines and subassemblies, and test repaired equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Identify and document parts and materials required for repairs and assist the HMVM Lead in completing work order documentation.
Support weekly Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and assist with equipment movement as required.
Perform in-process inspections to identify discovery faults and ensure quality control during repair processes.
Additional responsibilities include:
Assist with general maintenance activities across associated support equipment as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support contract requirements in related areas.
Work Conditions:
Work involves both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions, heat, dust, and inclement weather.
Periodic overtime and surge support may be required to meet operational needs.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
Specialized training through vocational or military school and/or a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
Broad mechanical expertise in the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of diesel and gasoline engines and the associated mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems of heavy equipment.
Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license/certification.
Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, and reaching.
Relocation assistance is not provided and candidates must reside within commuting distance or indicate a willingness to relocate at their own expense.
Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
