Position Summary:
The Staff System Design Engineer plays a central role throughout the different phases of the product development and life cycle. This position is a leadership role responsible for developing and supporting next generation portable handheld systems as well as supporting and improving current systems.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will play a lead role in developing the next generation of workflows and products. They will be responsible for evaluating technology options, crafting specifications, validating and verifying products, transitioning to manufacturing, and supporting customer rollout. They will also craft and lead experiments and trade-off studies to make important design decisions. Additionally, they must effectively advise a team of engineers and collaborate with other functions to determine the best system configurations.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of related experience
10+ years of technical leadership in requirements-based workflow and product development of sophisticated systems highly preferred.
Proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams, developing requirements and making system and process flow design decisions.
Demonstrated ability driving collaborative and innovative solutions under fixed project schedules.
Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written), Proven ability to communicate optimally within the organization and with customers.
US citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Key Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Complete roadmaps for workflows and their connection to system requirements and architecture.
Contribute to the definition of system architecture roadmap and coordinate development activities among various groups.
Operate as technical lead and handle selected development projects.
Work with program management, system architects, technical marketing, and customers to define product features and program objectives.
Define and handle product requirements, successfully interacting with collaborators from adjacent functions to consolidate inputs and arrive at optimal system configurations.
Lead a hardware, applications and software engineering design team to craft, develop, integrate and deliver robust, automated workflows and products per system specifications.
Coordinate work involving a variety of equipment including detectors, optics, lasers, and electro-mechanical systems.
Mentor engineers at all levels and influence the design to meet program goals.
Drive good engineering practices on projects.
Facilitate self-guided teams working to meet objectives for program increment.
Drive workflow, product or feature introduction.
Develop strategies and coordinate system alignment. Drive resolution of technical issues that may impact product introduction and ramp.
Regularly showcasing or delivering features to collaborators.
Responding to customer feedback and incorporating it into product features
