ICA is currently seeking an experienced Sinhala language instructor to teach adult professionals in an in-person setting at our facility in Rosslyn, VA. The candidates should have at least two years of work experience teaching the target language to adult students on an intensive basis (4-8 hours a day).

Preferred schedule: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm EST(6 hours of teaching + 2 hours of preparation)

Estimated number of hours: 600 (instructional) & 200 (prep)
Schedule note: This project might involve a team-teaching/instructor rotation option
Duties:
Plan and conduct target language classes using a variety of teaching techniques and approaches, to develop students listening, reading, and speaking skills;
Administer weekly quizzes and assessments, and conduct other informal or formal evaluations of students learning progress;
Provide monthly written reports of the students' progress to the supervisor and jointly develop plans to address any potential issues;
Maximize the use of instructional technology and online learning resources into teaching to support independent learning;
Adjust teaching techniques and approaches to the student's individual learning styles and professional needs;
Propose and participate in beyond-the-classroom cultural activities in the school and in the DC metro area, such as visits to foreign embassies, cultural centers, restaurants, and shopping areas where native speakers live, to promote cultural learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field
Minimum two years of full-time experience teaching adult students
Experience teaching US military students
Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered tests
Knowledge of the ILR scale
Experience integrating instructional technology in teaching and assessment
Experience using online meeting platforms for teaching such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx
Native speaker of the Sinhala language
