Job Description:

The College of Professional and Continuing Studies is pleased to announce our search for a Senior Program Coordinator for the Economic Development Institute.


The Senior Program Coordinator's primary role involves working with the Program Manager to help lead Economic Development Institute (EDI), the first and still premiere economic development professionals certification program in the country. EDI includes twice annual six-day off-site training events, as well as online courses which can be mixed in to varying degrees. The role involves advising current and future participants, on-site logistics and contracting (facility, instructors), some marketing duties, and future event site selection. This role also be the primary coordinator of the program's four online short-courses (18 clock hours) offered twice annually.


Duties Include:



  • Assists Director in evaluating future in-person locations, assessing needs, researching potential locations and helping in the selection and contracting process.

  • Prepares contracts and task orders for instructors.

  • Ensures compliance with program regulations.

  • Coordinates with third party vendors such as audio-visual support according to event needs.

  • Coordinates activities for in-person programs including space availability, details regarding classroom identification and setup, event. food and beverage orders.

  • Coordinates online courses offered via Canvas - four short professional development (non-degree) courses offered twice per year.

  • Coordinates instructor course material receipt and preparation.

  • Assists with transportation logistics (travel, lodging)

  • Advises current and prospective participants of EDI via email or phone, including assisting with registration.

  • Assist navigating certification requirements as well as needs for national certification (prior knowledge of economic development profession not required).

  • Assist in developing marketing calendar, gathering and preparation of database marketing lists, design/sending of marketing emails.

  • Represent the program at the industry's annual conference as an exhibitor for recruitment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree, AND: 



  • 48 months of related experience.


Equivalent/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree to equal 96 months of related experience.


Skills:



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel and Word.

  • Able to communicate clearly with a diverse group of stakeholders, via phone, online, and in-person.

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Able to effectively evaluate projects and programs and produce comprehensive reports.

  • Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.


Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Sits for prolonged periods.

  • Communicate effectively including the ability to see, hear, and speak.

  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions.

  • Ability to push and pull up to 25 lbs.

  • Standard office environment. 

  • Position requires some travel including two annual trips of 6 days each and one trip of 3 days. 


Departmental Preferences:



  • 5+ years' experience in business, program management, or related experience.

  • Knowledge of economic development profession.


Supervision: 



  • This position helps supervise one student employee.
