This person will work remotely when not traveling to plant sites in NC, SC, or VA. Company credit card will be provided for travel expenses.
As part of the Engineering team, the Automation Project Manager plays a critical role in the optimization of production processes within the industry, maximizing operational efficiency, and reducing resource waste. This role supports the manufacturing of major brands to meet consumer demands through the application of engineering principles and project management. The Automation Project Manager leads complex projects, provides direction to junior engineers, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, cost-effective project completion.
Core Responsibilities:
Design Work
Develop preliminary designs, engineering specifications, and project cost estimates.
Conduct feasibility and economic studies to determine design criteria.
Validate fieldwork and integrate as-built drawings into project documentation.
Review plant engineering projects to ensure compliance with engineering standards and codes.
Manage project execution by coordinating with vendors, contractors, and plant personnel.
Design Implementation
Provide direction to equipment vendors for layout planning, utility requirements, and schedule management.
Review consultant submissions and propose adjustments as necessary.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of equipment manuals, drawings, parts lists, and vendor contacts.
Reporting & Proposals
Conduct pre-project studies and operational reviews.
Develop scope of work, request proposals, and evaluate submissions.
Submit timely reports to management on project progress.
Review of Bids & Project Preparation
Oversee contract administration and review of bid packages.
Prepare project documentation, including justifications, budget analyses, plans, and schedules.
Monitor installations to ensure adherence to project specifications and budgets.
Manage assigned project budgets and ensure cost control.
Continuous Improvement
Stay updated on the latest trends in robotics and controls to drive innovative solutions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role involves leading and mentoring a team of engineers, including Associate Engineers, Project Engineers, and Senior Project Engineers.
Responsibilities include hiring, training, performance management, and resolving conflicts.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2+ years in leadership.
