Have a heart for under resourced student athletes, community, and equity in education?

Neway Works is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is an advocate for student athletes' mental health and overall wellbeing who are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Our mission is to help student athletes step into their purpose, achieve academic success, and transform into self-efficient, educated, employable, and productive adults in society, leaving no child behind.

There is often a disconnect between expectations the school places on the students and the support and resources available to these students. Our after-school youth development mentoring program, Project Transformation, is designed to target academic success, engaging teens in wholesome activities, and steering students on a new pathway forward to overall success in life.

We are seeking a dynamic servant leader that can leverage connections, networks, and resources to grow our mission of helping kids in need. The successful candidate must be willing to bring their unique background, talent, and passion to the boardroom table.

Neway Works Board Member Qualifications:

  • Serve a two-year, compensation free, active Board term.
  • 2+ Years of Nonprofit Board and/or Board Governance Experience preferred.
  • Willingness to serve on various committees as needed for fundraising events.
  • Heart for vulnerable children's issues and social needs of under resourced student athletes.
  • A belief in, and ability to live up to, the organization's core values of transparency, accountability, immediacy, integrity, and collaboration.
  • Executive leadership accomplishments in corporate and non-profit sectors.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships, build consensus among diverse individuals, and inspire action.
  • A desire and passion to help the organization raise funds for its mission and build relationships with high-net-worth influencers and donors.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for building and cultivating strong relationships with potential corporate sponsors.
  • Known for being an impactful and passionate storyteller.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and warmth.

Neway Works Board Member Responsibilities:

  • Actively promote Neway Works mission by contributing ideas, best practices, compliance, and expertise.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization and communicate its value to other organizations, funders, or potential funders, thought leaders, key decision-makers, and the public.
  • Make Neway Works a philanthropic priority and make an annual contribution of $10,000 ANNUALLY and/or help generate contributions at a minimum of $10,000 ANNUALLY through fundraising events to support annual operating budget.
  • Help set the direction of the organization's mission and vision, setting, and monitoring goals, and approving the organization's budget.
  • Monitor the organization's programs and services and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Help build a corporate sponsor pipeline among small, mid-market, and enterprise companies.
  • Help make personal outreaches by leveraging business networks and contacts.
  • Help promote and advertise Neway Works fundraising events.

Neway Works Board Expectations & Time Commitment:

  • Neway Board Members meet formally once a quarter, four times per calendar year, for a 2-hour meeting in person and/or virtual, and as needed for strategic planning sessions, fundraising events, and committee meetings.
  • Each member will serve for two years and is limited to three terms.
  • Commit to serve on at least one standing committee or task force and accept special assignments.
