Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Working very independently, under very general supervision, executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. May identify new techniques. Develops modification of existing techniques, as appropriate. In collaboration with other members of the research team, gives input to the development of design protocols. Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data using statistical techniques. May be responsible for orienting and training new staff. May serve in a supervisory role in smaller lab.
Qualifications
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Maintains study systems to execute protocols,
2. Recruits and enrolls subjects,
3. Coordinates communication among PI, subjects, and parties associated with study protocol
4. Maintains and/or assists in subject characteristics database,
a. prepares reports
b. enters data
c. uses database searches for recruitment activities,
5. Understands general study protocols and inclusion criteria for ongoing studies,
6. Administers phone screen questionnaires and schedules subjects,
7. Tracks and characterizes responses and expenditures for all recruitment and subjects' modalities,
8. Prepares and presents data reports for investigators, study monitors, IRB and research collaborators,
9. Coordinates study IRB submissions with Principal Investigator and Partners IRB,
10. May assist in coordinating lab activities,
11. Collects, processes, and stores human specimen,
12. Performs statistical analyses using known techniques for analyzing epidemiologic data including survival analysis and adapts a variety of existing statistical methods to fulfill project needs
13. Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BA or BS required
At least one year of work experience in a research setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required
3. Sound independent judgment and competence in research methodologies
4. Experience in healthcare and research preferred but not required
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: 1. Strong analytical and computer skills required. Proficiency with computer spreadsheet, word-processing and database software. 2. Knowledge of IRB regulations and Good Clinical Practice preferred. 3. Strong organizational abilities. 4. Strong oral and written communication skills with both internal and external communications. 5. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet established timelines. 6. Ability to work under deadlines to meet recruitment and project deadlines. 7. Ability to work independently and within a group environment. 8. Ability to interact effectively with individuals from various backgrounds and fields of expertise. 9. Careful attention to detail. 10. Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects rights and individual needs. WORKING CONDITIONS: Will work in offices associated with the BWH Gastrointestinal Unit. Primarily this position is at the Resnek Center for PSC Research in Brookline. However, it also includes the Research Office, clinics, and inpatient units. The office is shared with other team members (e.g., Study Coordinators and Physicians).
