Job Summary
The Research Program Manager will develop programs, best practices and standard operating procedures to achieve assigned goals as related to research space support. This role will work directly with research staff at all levels, hospital support service departments and external vendors in furtherance of program goals. Where needed, the Research Program Manager will also work to both develop and implement trainings for both research staff and support service departments.
The Research Project Manager also plays an integral role in the day-to-day support of all research spaces as related to their support service department needs and interactions.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for identifying opportunities for program creation and implementation across all research space
2. Assemble program plans, teams and work assignments and direct the work efforts in furtherance of implementation each program
a. Work as the liaison to facilitate meetings between stakeholders
b. Track and document project progress
3. Communication of both the program goals and implementation to hospital leadership, the research community and/or support services departments
4. Create deliverables as related to each program, including best practices and SOPs
5. Auditing the implementation and results of each program for purposes of revision and compliance
6. Maintain any necessary databases for all programs, including related support documentation, communications and results
7. Advocates for research staff in matters related to the hospital maintenance and support of their space
8. Work directly with support service departments and external vendors to ensure proper support given to research space
9. Provide needed follow-up on any space related support issues
10. Work with counterparts across the PHS network to advocate for BWH and establish best practices under PHS-wide programs
11. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor degree required (natural sciences strongly preferred)
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in delivering program management solutions.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in research related communications, interactions and space reviews
• Must develop and maintain a familiarity with and an understanding of the basic, applied, and clinical research on going at BW
• Demonstrated personal qualities of leadership and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Effective inter-personal skills necessary
• Demonstrated competence with computer technology, data base applications, concepts and software as well as the ability to train other staff in their use
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary setting
• Expected to operate independently, with guidance from the Director of Research facilities, Planning and Management
• The candidate will have background and experience in research protection, federal and regulatory issues, research ethics, and project management at the task level
• This position requires a high degree of independent action and adherence to strict timelines
• Building and maintaining strong, trusting relationships is critical
• Experience presenting to investigative teams, end-users (faculty and staff), and subject-matter experts and must possess excellent negotiation, facilitation, consensus-building, and diplomacy skills and exhibit a strong helpline orientation
• Expected to stay current with a constantly changing technology and embrace the adoption of innovations to modernize, disseminate, renovate and remodel
Strong preferences for people with lab management, lab safety and/or research facilities experience
