Group1001 is looking for a college student to join us as an Actuarial Intern in our Hedging and Quantitative Solution team at our Zionsville, IN Corporate Office. The position will support our hedging function for fixed index annuities through applying knowledge of mathematics, computer programming, financial instrument pricing methodologies, and actuarial principles to:


  • Perform calculations of asset and liability analytics for the fixed index and variable annuity hedge program


  • Measure and report hedge program performance attribution


  • Maintain and develop tools and procedures to support this activity





Main Accountabilities:



  • Provide analytical support for hedging activities related to liability and asset valuation


  • Conduct attribution analysis of hedge program movement


  • Assist in development and maintenance of the annuity hedging model(s)


  • Collaborate to enhance existing processes to improve the quality and efficiency of information gathering and flow


  • Perform peer reviews of reports and output





Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate students completing their sophomore or junior year preferred pursuing actuarial science, finance, economics, math, physics, engineering or related field


  • Availability to work full-time hours over the summer


  • Familiarity with Insurance industry is ideal


  • Basic knowledge of derivatives instruments and models


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


  • Strong written and communication skills


  • Familiar with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)


  • Coding experience with Python and SQL is a plus
