A DAY IN THE LIFE



Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 9 laboratories servicing air, water, and soil testing. Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.


Our Orange, CA facility is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician II to join our Wet Chemistry Department.


Pay: $21 - $25 per hour


TheLaboratoryTechnicianIIis a keytechnical resource, responsible for performing and overseeing complexlaboratory testing, training staff, and ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards. This role requires in-depth knowledge of general chemistry and gravimetric methods, as well as the ability to troubleshoot, audit, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. As a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:


  • Perform and oversee 10-20 general chemistry and gravimetric methods, serving as the primary operator and technical expert.

  • Train and mentor Laboratory Technician I and Laboratory Assistants on proper techniques and procedures.

  • Conduct second-level reviews of 5-15 methods from general chemistry, gravimetric, titration, and extraction groups, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Manage laboratory workflows, including backlog management and adherence to project deadlines and holding times.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation according to established standard operating procedures.

  • Manage inventory of chemicals and consumables, ensuring adequate supply and proper storage.

  • Meet method production expectations and ensure quality standards are consistently achieved.

  • Troubleshoot mid-to-advanced equipment and method issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Participate in internal and external audits, demonstrating proficiency in laboratory procedures and documentation.

  • Participate in annual Proficiency Testing (PT) and Method Detection Limit (MDL) studies to meet annual/quarterly requirements.

  • Provide feedback and implement safety improvements, contributing to a safe and efficient laboratory environment.

  • Maintain IDOCs for 10-15 methods from general chemistry, gravimetric, titration, or extraction tests.

  • Provide daily status updates on test progress and results.

  • Provide feedback on method efficiencies and process improvements.

  • Assist in the preparation of instrument analyses.

  • Operate as a floater and maintain flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and needs.

  • Comply with Enthalpy's Quality Assurance Program and other policies

  • Comply with Enthalpy's Health and Safety Plan

  • Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director


YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS



To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily.   • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • 1 year of relevant lab experience as a full-time employee in a laboratory setting

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with 10-20 IDOCs related to general chemistry and gravimetric methods

  • Knowledge of analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety


Preferred Skills



  • Experience with laboratory documentation, recordkeeping, and quality control procedures.

  • Proven ability to train and mentor other laboratory staff

  • Mid to advanced troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to adhere and enforce standard operating procedures

  • Ability to work independently and in a team

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
