Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Sr. Director and Vice President of Equipment, this position is responsible for management of dry container and equipment assets (stock management) within the United States.
Functions & Duties
Description
• Manages the Regional Equipment team in Norfolk, VA in all matters pertaining to empty stock management and container utilization.
• Establishes and implements on-going communication between CMA CGM vendors as well as with all the Special Equipment Team, M&R, and logistics personnel within the CMA CGM organization to consistently improve our operations. Reports our monthly performance in our KPI's
• Responsible to oversee and monitor all equipment within the region and direct required actions to ensure that customer needs are met or exceeded.
• Coordinates closely with Equipment counterparts to ensure proper empty inventories are maintained at terminals, depots, rail facilities and shipper pools while reducing idling inventories. Responsible for empty repositioning and stock feed in alignment with Head Office instructions.
• Establish and implement processes and policies to ensure empty containers move in the most cost-effective and timely manner possible while providing adequate equipment to support the business.
• Coordinates closely with M+R dept to ensure that damaged units are repositioned in accordance with service and cost strategies in a timely manner.
• Develop and implement cost savings initiatives and cost controls for Equipment Stock Management vertical.
• Responsible to identify new opportunities and strategies that would reduce our asset costs without negatively impacting our service levels
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Communication skills: this position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, as there would be a great deal of coordination and communications of directives and strategies both to internal as well as external contacts.
• Organization / planning: this position requires excellent organization and planning skills.
• Requires good skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word. In addition, requires extensive use of web-based technologies for data.
