Oversee and manage all Quality and Regulatory operations, providing supervision and guidance to QC Technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision: Lead and direct Quality Control staff.
SQF Practitioner: Develop, implement, oversee, and continuously improve the SQF 2000 program for Food Safety and Food Quality.
Compliance Monitoring: Ensure products and processes meet government, customer, and company standards.
Laboratory Management: Maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, reagents, and supplies for production and quality control.
Laboratory Analysis: Analyze juice products and raw materials for microbiological, chemical, physical, and organoleptic integrity.
Finished Product Analysis: Control and ensure finished products meet specified microbiological, chemical, physical, and organoleptic requirements.
Sample Management: Maintain sample inventory for shelf life determination and customer shipment.
Reporting: Provide completed laboratory reports to customers as required.
Record Keeping: Maintain laboratory records in accordance with federal or state regulations (21 CFR Part 110).
Production Monitoring: Review HTST pasteurization charts and advise on deficiencies.
Operations Support: Assist Operations Quality Control in addressing product or process issues.
Program Leadership: Lead monthly GMP self-audits and maintain the pest control program.
Special Assignments: Undertake assignments as requested by the Vice President of Operations.
Backup: Serve as a backup for the Vice President of Operations, Quality Control Lead Technician, and all QC Technician positions.
Additional Responsibilities
Prepare weekly sterility reports.
Respond to product quality or foreign object complaints.
Act as HACCP program leader and document reviewer.
Organize flavor test panels and report findings.
Prepare product formula sheets.
Prepare documentation for audits and act as audit guide during audits.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field with 1-2 years of Quality Control or laboratory experience in progressive leadership roles.
Basic PC knowledge and proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.
Knowledge of government regulations related to food processing, packaging, and labeling preferred.
Understanding of QC and food safety principles, including adherence to specifications and regulations, food sanitation, pest control, and HACCP.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and issue resolution skills.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
