Job Description:
SUMMARY:
Perform maintenance and repair activities on various vehicles and pieces of equipment including but not limited to heavy equipment, tactical and non-tactical heavy-duty trucks, semi-tractors, KALMARs and material handling equipment, i.e., 4000lb to a 40 Ton Forklifts, M4Ks, Atlas M270s, Dozers (D7G), graders, Heavy Duty Agricultural Equipment, compressors, air compressors, and ground support equipment, generators, water/hydraulic pumps, electrical systems, fuel and exhaust systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Inspect vehicle/equipment damage and determine cost estimate for repairs.
• Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs, patch or hammer out dents depending on the severity of damage, use power tools to sand, grind, smooth, and file repaired surfaces.
• Identify replacement parts needed to make repairs.
• Performs road test on vehicles/equipment when required.
• Add critical or explanatory notations on completed maintenance documents following vehicle / equipment repair and testing IAW AR 750-1.
• Performs diagnostic tests using measuring devices, instruments, test equipment or special tools.
• Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools.
• Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles, and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.
• Operates, inspects and repairs hydraulic-operated transmissions and attachments, hydraulic cylinders, drive trains, tracked vehicle, heavy-duty truck suspension and steering systems.
• Operates and utilizes an assortment of tools to perform repairs that include power, pneumatic, and machinery such as grinding machines, presses, torch-cutting equipment, jacks and hoists to lift and move large components.
• Operates, inspects, and repairs brake systems to include heavy duty air brake, single and double chamber air brake units.
• Familiar with reading schematics diagrams for electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment, and may repair, adjust, and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling, and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines.
• Performs all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
• All work is accomplished IAW with the applicable Army regulations, DA PAMs, Technical Manuals, Technical Bulletins, and Repair Manuals, and Company procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested, which may include travel to and assisting at other sites to accommodate applicant flow.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum requirements:
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience and excellent understanding of mechanical equipment and theory of operation of cranes, tactical vehicles, electrical systems, generators, automotive, HVAC maintenance and other heavy equipment, vehicle repair, electrical, heating systems and diesel maintenance.
• Must be U.S. citizen and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English proficiently and can clearly and concisely communicate both orally and in writing.
• Must be proficient in the use of computers and MS Office Software.
• Must be able to obtain a CAC and work the assigned shift hours.
• Must be U.S. citizen.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must have exceptional communication skills. Computer skills required to perform assigned duties including Microsoft Office and email functions. Ability to interpret instructions and information and explain to others in the performance of this job in English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to utilize an assortment of tools to perform repairs that include power, pneumatic and machinery such as grinding machines, presses, torch-cutting equipment, jacks, and hoists to lift and move large components. WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS:
May be exposed to inclement/extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may vary from moderate to high, depending on location. Job will require working flexible hours, sometimes under short notice, to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.
EXPECTATIONS:
Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to maintain proper a valid driver's license. As a condition of employment, must have acceptable background check results and pass a pre-employment drug screening. This position may be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing on an unannounced basis.
The employee must be dependable and have strong communication skills while meeting project deadlines. Must maintain accountability of equipment. Timesheets must be completed daily, ensuring that you accurately record your actual work hours. Timely and precise timesheet entries are essential for maintaining our records and ensuring smooth operations. Additionally, please remember to dress appropriately for your shift and be punctual.
