Position Overview
The Senior Designer (I&E) will be responsible for leading and coordinating Instrumentation & Control System Design for Oil & Gas Refineries and Chemical Plants. This individual will ensure all designs adhere to industry standards, client requirements, and safety regulations while effectively collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
Develop detailed designs using 2D AutoCAD and Excel, with a preference for experience in MicroStation, CADWorx, BlueBeam, and Access.
Design Junction Boxes, Marshalling Panels, and DCS/PLC Cabinets, including Bill of Materials (BOM).
Prepare instrument installation details and material take-offs for project estimates.
Technical Expertise
Review and redline P&IDs, interlock schematics, and motor schematics to ensure accuracy.
Develop conduit and cable tray layouts, including support details and sizing calculations.
Provide low-voltage electrical design (120 VAC & 24 VDC power for instrumentation, grounding, and bonding in accordance with NEC standards).
Conduct field surveys and assist in the planning and execution of hot/cold cutovers.
Collaboration & Compliance
Work independently while collaborating with engineering teams, project managers, and clients.
Ensure all designs comply with industry codes, safety regulations, and client specifications.
Maintain clear and professional communication with stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
5-10+ years of experience in Instrumentation & Control System Design within the Oil & Gas or Chemical industries.
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD and Excel.
Extensive experience in instrumentation design, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
Ability to work in field environments and actively participate in cutover planning and execution.
Knowledge of fiber routing and general fiber optic systems.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work.
Preferred:
Experience with MicroStation, CADWorx, BlueBeam, and Access.
Familiarity with NEC codes and general electrical design.
