Job Title: Vice President of Consumer Lending

Department: Consumer Lending

Reports To: Chief Lending Officer

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Summary 

The primary purpose of this position is to strategically manage Rio Grande Credit Union’s consumer lending, consumer lending lines of business and consumer lending products and services. The employee shall develop and implement goals, Key Performance indicators (KPI’s), lead teams to complete objectives, monitor strategies to improve our member service and experience in all delivery channels.  The employee must possess and have demonstrated qualities that further enhance our values of humility, engagement and can-do-spirit.

The employee is expected to perform other tasks, duties and trainings deemed necessary by his/her supervisor or senior team.

 

  • Develop and implement operations policies to meet organizational needs and comply with state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
  • Develop, analyze, recommend and implement goals, objectives and strategies to ensure effectiveness or provide recommendations to improve policies and procedures. 
  • Develop and review quarterly department annual budget and staffing model. 
  • Review and develop strategic plans in relation to the overall goals of the Credit Union.
  • Organize, direct and coordinate all marketing campaigns, implementation projects, regulatory changes in the consumer lending lines of business. 
  • Oversee daily operations to assess continued effectiveness.   Makes recommendations as needed to improve or facilitate operational procedures.    
  • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Respond to member and staff inquiries and disputes.
  • Establish consumer lending and authority limits, procedures, and processes for each product that will result in department productivity, exceptional service, and cost-effective underwriting.
  • Assist in any other area as directed by Chief Lending Officer.
  • Member of ALCO Committee and assists in pricing and strategies.
  • Member of loan charge-off committee. 
  • Attend board meetings as necessary to provide insights into the current loan environment.
  • Monitor loan portfolio performance, including ROI, delinquency, charge off and migration analysis. 
  • Thorough understanding of both Direct and Indirect lending, including underwriting, booking, funding, disbursement and loan portfolio administration. 
  • Thorough understanding of rules and regulations regarding consumer loans as prescribed by NCUA and other governing agencies to ensure that all consumer lending functions are handled in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
  • Work with the collections department to monitor delinquencies and charge offs, utilize data to enhance future underwriting and loan approval criteria. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities                  

Directly supervises the Underwriting Manager who leads employees in the underwriting department, the Loan Processing Manager who leads employees in the loan processing department and the Consumer Lending Manager who leads the loan officers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

 Education and/or Experience                  

Experience- 5 to 10 years related experience.

Education- 4-year college degree or specialized course of study OR 10 years related experience.

 

Language Skills                  

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills                  

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability                  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills                  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of ICIMS Human Resource systems preferred; ADP Payroll systems preferred; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
