Job Summary/Basic Function:


About This Role:



Teaching and course development for undergraduate and graduate courses in both face to face and online delivery. Advising undergraduate and graduate students. Maintains office hours. Mentoring student research at the undergraduate and graduate level. Serves on committees at the department, college, and university level. Serves on hiring committees. Attends graduations. Participate in departmental recruitment efforts. Maintains professional certifications. Assists with departmental accreditation efforts. Maintains active research agenda and seeks sources of internal and external funding.



What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities:


  • Teaching

    • Designing lesson plans and creating course syllabi.

    • Delivering lectures and facilitating classroom discussions.

    • Assessing student learning through exams, assignments and projects.

    • Providing individual feed to students.




  • Research/grant writing

    • Conducting original research in their area of expertise.

    • Writing and publishing academic papers in peer-reviewed journals.

    • Presenting research findings at conferences.



  • Service

    • Servicing on departmental committees.

    • Participating in faculty meetings and curriculum development.



  • Advising

    • Advising students on academic matters.






Key Competencies: (KSAs - Knowledge Skills and Abilities)

  • Exercise testing and prescription, ECG recognition, Strength & Conditioning program planning.




Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to speak clearly, hear and understand speech, see details at a close range, and stand or sit for extended periods while delivering lectures often requiring good posture and the ability to move around the classroom as needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):



  • Candidates should have an earned doctorate in: Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or closely related field.

  • The faculty member must have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship.

  • Preference will be given to those applicants who have: prior teaching experience at the college level using both face-to-face traditional and online course delivery preferred; a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and evidence of scholarly activity as exemplified by published manuscripts and external funding is preferred; practical experience in exercise physiology, exercise testing, ECG, biochemical analysis, and exercise programming; experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate level student research; experience with student recruitment at the undergraduate and graduate level.


Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience):



  • Certifications: ACSM-EP, ACSM-CEP and/or NSCA-CSCS
