Are you looking to pivot your career into a more dynamic role? Ready to move away from the desk and leverage your relationship-building and networking skills? This is a rare opportunity to join a small but growing firm where you'll be the first to lead business development efforts, making a significant impact from day one. The firm specializes in helping Pension Funds and Plan Sponsors meet their fiduciary obligations related to securities litigation.
Key Responsibilities: • Lead Business Development: Take charge of this new business development initiative, forging and maintaining relationships with prospects and referral sources across the institutional investment landscape, with a focus on pension funds. Engage with legal counsel, boards, investment teams, consulting firms, and more. • Strategic Engagement: Utilize CRM tools to assess and prioritize leads, collaborate on RFPs and proposals, and monitor industry channels to identify new opportunities. • Networking: Attend and network at industry conferences and events to build and sustain relationships with prospects and referral sources.
Qualifications: • Experience: Minimum of 6 years in roles interacting with Pension Funds, Consultants, Plan Sponsors, and/or Law Firms associated with Pension Funds. This experience may come from Institutional Business Development, Sales, Relationship Management, or supporting roles such as Legal, Custody, Trust, or Treasury Operations at a Bank, or within a Plan Administrator, such as a financial services company or custodian managing Pension Funds. Accountants or Auditors with Pension Fund experience looking to transition into business development are also welcome to apply. • Knowledge Base: A strong understanding of class action suits and the associated financial flows in and out of pension funds is highly desirable. • Skill Set: You present with executive presence and are a consultative, relationship-oriented professional. You excel at networking, articulate complex ideas clearly, and have a keen attention to detail. • Work Ethic: You're hands-on and ready to manage administrative tasks, including CRM maintenance, essential for building out this function. • Industry Relationships: Existing connections with Law Firms, Consultants (e.g., Mercer), and Pension Fund Investment Committees or Boards are a significant advantage. • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel is a must, as attendance at industry conferences and events is a key part of the role. • Education: A Bachelor's degree is required; a law degree is a plus. • Location: This is a hybrid position based in Massachusetts, and can work if you live in MA, NY, NJ, CT, RI or ME. • Benefits: Generous benefit plan include health benefits, 401k match, profit sharing and PTO!
