SUMMARY
Conduct engine performance and emissions development projects involving gasoline and diesel engine testing on an engine dynamometer testbed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, plan and execute engine performance and emissions development programs with guidance from a Sr. Engineer
Conducting a detailed thermodynamic analysis of engine performance and emissions test results, prepare technical reports, papers and presentations based on those results
P-V diagram analysis for combustion burn rates, mean effective pressure determination, etc
Heat transfer analysis for emissions aftertreatment light off assessment, coolant system heat rejection, etc
Emissions aftertreatment system performance and efficiency analysis using regulated certification drive cycles
Concisely summarize test results and data to a reportable format, make recommendations / direct future test plans based on information in these reports
Support engine dynamometer test cells with work instructions and test plans that can be used by the technicians to properly set up and execute the scope of a given engine test project
Ensure that the test equipment used during each engine test program that he / she is involved with is properly calibrated, meets customer accuracy and repeatability requirements
Analyze gasoline and diesel engine performance and emissions technology trends and market demand to plan projects and understand customer requirements that will drive future business
Lead and participate in department continuous improvement activities, including process improvement, efficiency improvement and development of data analysis techniques
Train and mentor junior engineers/interns on department processes and required technical skills to assist in their career development
Collaborate with department manager and / or program management staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost, and timing for engine development quotes
Assist with quoting activities for customer requests involving gasoline, diesel or electrified powertrain development testing
Maintain a working knowledge of new engine testing technologies that may improve testing operations and increase department efficiency
Communicate effectively with project management staff to ensure that project budget, timing and quality requirements of his / her portion of the program scope are being satisfied
Prepare project reports, in Microsoft PowerPoint or Word format, for management, clients or potential clients

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, automotive, or equivalent engineering field is required. Master's in mechanical, automotive, or equivalent engineering field is a plus
Two or more years of related experience
In depth knowledge of internal combustion engines and testing techniques
Work effectively with a variety of people such as; management, design, calibration and technical staff, as well as customers and supplier representatives
Ability to recognize new business opportunities
Logical and methodical approach to tasks
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Presentation & public speaking skills
Familiarity with industry standard calibration tools preferable (ATI Vision, ETAS Inca, ETAS ASCMO)
Experience with advanced plotting packages preferable (Uniplot, MDA, Concerto)
