The Claims Adjuster will support the administration of Dartmouth's insurance program through managing workers' compensation claims inclusive of lost time/indemnity; evaluate and resolve claims in a timely manner while ensuring compliance with statues, regulations and policy provisions.
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:
Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Bachelor's Degree plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
New Hampshire Workers Compensation Adjuster License
Comprehensive knowledge of NH Workers' Compensation Statues and case law

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrate technical proficiency through timely, consistent execution of claims management best practices
Review all workers' compensation claims from initial report to resolution; ensuring all necessary information is collected for accurate processing in proprietary claims management system
Request all wage and medical information when applicable
Investigates and adjusts claims in a timely manner, as well as directs outside defence counsel, independent adjusters, experts, and other vendors in the claim-handling processes consistent with industry best practices
Determine compensability and issue prompt payment or denial within the statutory requirements
Recommends and sets reserves to ensure the reserves represent the probable ultimate payout based on documented file developments
Complete and file all applicable state mandated forms.
Communicate frequently with injured workers to maintain appropriate case management
Collaboratively work with Dartmouth departmental supervisors to execute return to work strategies
Routinely interacts with primary and excess insurance carriers
Establish and implement pro-active action plans to facilitate case resolution inclusive of negotiating settlements within granted authority
Review and process medical/vendor bills and issue timely payments consistent with payment protocols
Attend hearing and appeals as required
Determine potential subrogation and second injury fund recovery
Keep abreast of jurisdictional requirements, applicable case law and insurance best practices
Contribute and provide data for monthly Safety Meetings
