Job Description:

Growing and well established manufacturing company with multiple locations has an exciting opportunity available for a Buyer. Main Functions: The Material Buyer will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. The Material Buyer will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers. Reports to: Purchasing Manager Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist with selection and development of reliable suppliers, control of pricing, and quality of goods • Will follow up on open orders and expedite as necessary • Assists with maintaining a computerized purchase and inventory system • Will monitor ERP inputs and system values to ensure accurate purchasing of items (safety stock, reorder quantity, lead time, etc.) • Requests quotations and secures bids for raw materials and supplies • Reduces overall costs while improving safety, quality, and delivery • Manages time effectively, strives to contain costs and reduce waste, and finds ways to optimize resources • Responsible for reviewing and processing claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment • Negotiation support may include all aspects such as prices, lead times, terms, customer owned inventory, quality, transportation, and other contractual items • Helps maintain an economic level of inventory on-hand to assure production is not interrupted • Responsible to perform continuous improvement of processes • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management • Helps company meet its strategic, quality and safety objectives • All other duties as assigned by manager Requirements • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with vendors and salespeople at all levels • Ability to cultivate positive working relationships • Good reasoning and sound judgment skills Code: F-HR-004 Revision: [0] • Proficient knowledge working in Windows environment and software related (Outlook, Office, etc.) • Working knowledge of ERP systems with an understanding of bills of materials and supporting data of the operating system • Understanding and ability to apply the principles of Lean Manufacturing systems • Must have strong negotiation skills and knowledge of negotiation strategies • Building material knowledge, a plus Education • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or other appropriate field, and/or minimum of five (5) years' experience in manufacturing planning, procurement or supply chain or combination of relevant education and experience.
