Job Title: Quality Assurance Lab Technician I (Temporary)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:15 AM - 4:45 PM

Compensation: $24.50 per hour

Status: Temporary (6 months)

General Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Lab Technician I is responsible for supporting the identification, development, and deployment of specifications, special controls, tests, inspections, validations, and verifications to ensure the quality of the company's products. The technician will analyze raw and in-process materials and final products using IHC, ISH, PCR technology, and molecular/biochemical assays. This position applies laboratory skills to analyze test results, prepare technical summaries, and investigate customer complaints.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Support Activities:
  • Actively participate in maintaining and improving the company's Quality/Business System.
  • Support Purchase Order Review to ensure product compliance with orders.
  • Assist Materials Management in evaluating, selecting, and monitoring supplier quality.

Technical Operation Activities:
  • Analyze raw, in-process, and finalized products using techniques such as IHC, ISH, ELISA, and molecular/biochemical methods.
  • Interpret test results following quality control guidelines.
  • Inspect in-process and final products.
  • Monitor and maintain quality control equipment and ensure proper calibration.
  • Participate in validation activities and notify management of product quality issues.
  • Clean lab areas and biosafety cabinets and maintain QC retention samples.
  • Assist with inspections of incoming and in-process components and finished goods.

Information Management & Reporting Activities:
  • Assist with data collection activities.
  • Provide feedback through charts, graphs, and reports on the performance of the Quality System.

Other Activities:
  • Support review and analysis of specifications, engineering change orders, and technical documents.
  • Participate in process proving, reliability testing, and field failure analysis.
  • Document and control nonconforming products using MRB logs.
  • Maintain lab supplies to meet production demands.

Essential Job Requirements:

Education:
  • BS or BA degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional coursework in quality and quantitative methods is a plus.

Experience & Minimum Qualifications:
  • 0-2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience with GMP/GLP.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work independently.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced mathematical proficiency, including exponents, logarithms, and quadratic equations.
  • Knowledge of biochemical processes, such as Spectrophotometry, PCR, Chromatography, and Immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Physical Requirements & Working Environment:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Frequently works in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work safely with various instruments and tools.
  • Ability to travel to other locations, if necessary.
  • Ability to respond to multiple work pressures and deadlines.
  • Must be able to manage change effectively and communicate with diverse personalities.
  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, and using hands and arms for extended periods.
